Beneficiary designations, currentLife insurance, retirement accounts, and bank accounts pass by the name on the form — not by the will. An old name on a form beats a new will every time. Check them.

Titles and deeds, in the right namesThe house, the car, the land. If the name on the title is not the name you expect, the transfer stalls. Notarized transfers fix it while everyone is alive and agreeable.
