Own the Practice · still being built Earnestine Clay

Is a career in insurance and financial services a fit for me?

Maybe. That is the honest answer, and it is why this page is an invitation to find out rather than a pitch. I am building a team of licensed owners across Dallas–Fort Worth — people who want to own a practice rather than hold a job. You get licensed, you get mentored, and you get paid on the premiums you write. What you build belongs to you.

Why I am doing this

I spent a career in public service. I am not done being useful.

I retired from federal government service in November. Sitting down was never the plan. I hold my insurance and securities licenses, I am a commissioned notary, and I serve as an Election Judge in Dallas County — which means a fair number of my neighbors have already handed me something important and trusted me to handle it correctly.

What I learned in thirty years of public service is that most people are not short on effort. They are short on someone who will explain the thing plainly and sit with them until they understand it. That is what I do for families. It is also what I want to do for the people who join me — because the fastest way to teach a community financial literacy is to license people from inside it.

Mentoring is not a line on this page. It is the reason the page exists.

What it actually is

Licensed. Mentored. Paid on what you write.

  • You get licensed properlyPre-licensing education, exam preparation, and the paperwork — walked through step by step, in order, with someone who has done it.
  • You get mentored, not recruited and droppedJoint appointments until you are ready to run them alone. I sit in, you watch, then we swap. That is the whole method.
  • You are paid on what you writeCommission on the premiums you place. What you earn tracks the work you do and the families you serve.
  • You serve your own communityThe people who most need this conversation are the ones who have never been offered it.

What it is not

Real work, in a regulated field.

  • Not a jobAn independent contractor role. You own what you build, and you own the responsibility that comes with it.
  • Not a shortcutState pre-licensing education and a state exam come first. Then appointments. Then results. In that order, for everyone.
  • Not a guaranteed outcomeCompensation is commission on business written. I will not tell you what that adds up to, because nobody honestly can.

The information session

Forty-five minutes, once a month.

What the work actually is, what licensing takes, how the mentoring runs, and your questions. On Zoom. I hold it once so I do not have to explain it twenty times — and so you can hear it before deciding whether to have a one-to-one conversation.
